Did you know that?

1. About 70% of the earth’s surface is covered in water, but 97% of it is saltwater, which is unfit for human use. Saltwater cannot be used for drinking, crop irrigation or most industrial uses. Of the remaining 3% of the world’s water resources, only about 1% is readily available for human consumption.
2. Researches show that as incomes increase, the demand for natural resources increase a similar rate.
3. The average person in the United States uses anywhere from 80-100 gallons of water per day. Flushing the toilet actually takes up the largest amount of this water.
4. Much more fresh water is stored under the ground in aquifers than on the earth’s surface.
5. The earth is a closed system, similar to a terrarium, meaning that it rarely loses or gains extra matter. The same water that existed on the earth millions years ago is still present today.
